The best way to tune your skis
The best place to start tuning your skis is to tune them indoors at room temperature and well before your next italy ski trip. Then prepare by placing the skis on top of a tuning bench before your iron them, making sure that the iron reaches the appropriate temperature for waxing.
Next, you need to clean out the skis by wiping them with a cloth and inspect the skis for any signs of scratches. If you do find scratches then you will need to repair them by applying a stick of P-Tex, using a ski scraper and a lighter. The next job is edging the skies, which involves sharpening the edges of the skis and using a diamond file or a stone afterwards for the tip and the tail. After you have finished this, it is time for waxing.
When choosing your waxes, you should firstly check the forecast. You will need to use a wax that corresponds to the temperature for the day you are going to be out skiing. After you have chosen it you will need to iron the wax onto the ski after applying it. Wait about 25 minutes for the wax to cool on the base before you continue. During this time, you can continue tuning the other ski.
Afterwards, brush all remaining wax from the base until you achieve a perfect smoothness. Use a stiff brush like a horse hair and then repeat the process by using a nylon brush. Hopefully, after having followed through all of these steps you will now be ready to take your ski out onto the slopes again and have fun.
