Budget Skiing
The days of cheap lift tickets are over. The sport of skiing has always been expensive however during these tough economic times it is difficult to justify spending over $90 on lift tickets. For this reason you don’t have to give up skiing, all you need to do is just adjust how you spend your money.
Here are some ways you can go skiing within a budget:
Take a ride to the Mountain with someone: If you travel in a group to the ski resort you can avoid the high gas costs and toll road expenses.
You will need to eat well to keep your energy up on the slopes. So pack your lunch and snacks from home instead of spending money on expensive cafeterias. Basic meals will do just fine like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bananas, carrots, chocolate bars, bags of cereal and trail mix. Along with the snacks and lunch bring some sports drinks and beverages. If you do not bring your own drinks then you could be spending well over $20 on drinks alone.
If you need to purchase ski equipment you should do it off-site away from the ski resort. This will add a few extra steps to the trip however the benefits will far outweigh the extra work.
You should always try to search for discounted lift tickets. Even some supermarkets may sell lift tickets at a discounted rate. You can also check Liftopia website for some good deals.
When you ski on a budget you need to think ahead. If you do this, you will be able to enjoy skiing more often, which is so much better than staying home and being unable to use your garmin running watch.
